about me
I’m an art weirdo who has dabbled in many mediums.
My art practice spans disciplines. I spend a lot of time with illustration, photography, and fibre crafts (quilting, embroidery, and visible mending). I dabble in pottery, sculpting, watercolour painting, dyeing fabric, felting, and making little videos. I used to make zines and comics but not as much these days. When I was in my early 20s, I felt stressed that I couldn’t focus on one thing, so I let myself work on everything and move between mediums when it felt right. Now in my 40s it feels like things are coming together.
I grew up on a farm in central Alberta and one side of my family is pretty artsy. I moved around a lot before settling in Vancouver in 2011. I love this city and feel at home here, that I am a part of a community.
I have never formally trained in art and I never graduated university. My work has been featured in galleries, published in books and magazines, and is part of private collections worldwide. Because I work across disciplines, my inspiration comes from diverse places and is too wordy to go into here. But I feel like a sponge and I’m always taking in ideas and working on new projects.
Outside of my art practice, I have a long list of hobbies and pastimes I enjoy: watching movies, running, cycling, baking, reading, going for walks, spending time with friends, data collection and spreadsheets, giving myself little side quests, travelling, playing video games, etc.
